If I Had a Son, He'd Look Like Trevon

With these words, President Obama touched the nation, speaking a central human truth about the killing of Trayvon Martin by a neighborhood watch vigilante in February 2012. Trayvon could have been anyone's son, even the President's, and this loss affects us all.

Don Arbor was inspired by Obama's words and the tragic events to record this song and video for Trayvon.

The senseless loss of this young man's life is terrible enough. The questions raised about our society are almost as bad. Why did our justice system fail to deal with the crime? Why was there no arrest of the guy who unnecessarily followed an innocent man and killed him, until a public outcry arose?

Why does the NRA control the legislatures in so many states, including Florida, where the law puts the burden of proof on the deceased instead of the killer?

Nothing we do can bring back Trayvon. The only good to come of this tragedy is the public support for the family, and the chance that there will be enough pressure to require a change in the barbaric gun laws. This song and video are Don's contribution to that effort. Don Arbor's video of "If I Had A Son, He'd Look Like Trayvon" also won the award for Best Music Video at the Berkeley Video and Film Festival in February 2012.

"If I Had a Son, He'd Look Like Trayvon" is available as a free download and will also be on Don's new CD-- "Man on a Mission"-- 2 CD set for release in May 2013.
